Sheila Jackson Lee (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Texas' 18th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 1995. Her current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Lee (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Texas' 18th Congressional District. She declared candidacy for the Democratic primary scheduled on March 5, 2024.

Jackson Lee began her political career as a municipal judge in Houston, Texas, from 1987 to 1990. She then served as a city council member for Houston from 1990 to 1994.

In January 2019, Jackson Lee stepped down from her chair position of the Crime, terrorism, homeland security and investigations subcommittee, following allegations that she had fired an aide who had said she was sexually assaulted by a supervisor. Jackson Lee denied the allegation.

On March 26, 2023, Jackson Lee announced her candidacy for mayor of Houston.

Jackson Lee earned her bachelor's degree in political science from Yale University and her J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School. From 1977-1978, she served as staff counsel to the U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations.
